Spring is here, and in Hawaii, that means more tradewinds and open windows. April is the perfect time to clean and inspect your window screens so you can enjoy the breeze without letting in bugs or debris.
1. Remove and Wash Screens
Take screens off and gently wash them with soapy water and a soft brush. Rinse and let them dry completely before reinstalling.
2. Inspect for Holes or Tears
Check each screen for damage. Even small tears can let in insects. Patch minor holes with screen repair kits or consider replacing badly damaged screens.
3. Wipe Down Window Frames
While screens are drying, clean window tracks and frames to remove dust, salt, and mildew buildup—common in Hawaii’s coastal climate.
Maintaining clean, intact screens keeps your home fresh and pest-free as you enjoy the spring air.
